The April “FOOLS” FREERide started 16 years ago with five friends kicking off the jet ski season on April 1st at Blue Marsh Lake in Sinking Spring, PA. Riding in freezing water made people think it was a joke—but it wasn’t, and the tradition stuck.
As it grew, the date shifted to avoid Easter and WaveDaze, now typically landing on one of the last weekends in April—while keeping the original name and spirit alive.
This is a true grassroots get-together—no entry fees, no vendors, no selling—just riders coming together. A FREE raffle with prizes from vendors and riders nationwide adds to the excitement, and even the food is free.
The event welcomes everyone—stand-ups, sit-downs, boats, and spectators—and focuses on getting younger riders involved in the sport.
What started with five riders has grown to 50–70 and continues to build each year. It’s more than a ride—it’s the start of the season.
